MVNU receives national awards

Mount Vernon Nazarene University has received three national awards for the quality of education offered in both in-seat and online classes.

MVNU was awarded Best Value School designation for 2017.

The selection process is rigorous and conducted by a combination of researchers and former college presidents and university CEOs.

The schools that receive the award are examined based on student satisfaction, overall cost, retention rate, graduation rate, student services and more.

MVNU is ranked 26th out of almost 1,000 small colleges in the United States. To be considered a “small college,” the school must offer a four-year degree and have fewer than 4,000 students enrolled.

MVNU is one of seven colleges in Ohio that received this designation and one of 25 Christian colleges national wide.

MVNU was also ranked 13th on a list for Best Online Schools in Ohio by Accredited Online School. The honor highlighted MVNU’s online programs in theology, business management and healthcare administration.

The award is based on the cost, financial aid offered, student-teacher ratio and overall quality of online programs.

Affordable Colleges Online recognized MVNU for Online Learning Excellence in the same programs: business administration, healthcare administration and theology.

Specifically, MVNU’s master’s of healthcare administration was ranked third out of 50 degree programs in the U.S. because of net cost, financial aid and the preparation students receive while in the program. The bachelor’s degree in business management ranked 16th.

According to Director of Admissions Tracy Waal, these honors are a “confirmation to current students of the great education that they’re receiving.”

He believes it will also affect the future enrollment of MVNU because prospective students will be confident in choosing MVNU.

“Being on this list should increase exposure to students who may not otherwise consider us,” Waal said.
